Back to School 2024: Spokane, Wash.

Zūm drivers and employees kicked off the school year in Spokane, Washington earlier this week. At Zum’s bus yard, teams were recognized for their hard work over the summer getting all buses, technology and equipment in top shape before the first day of school.

This is the third year that Zum has provided student transportation for Spokane Public Schools (SPS), which serves roughly 30,000 students.

“We’re proud of our strong partnership with Spokane Public Schools, and we’re honored to provide these families and schools with best-in-class student transportation,” said Liz Sanchez, Executive Vice President of Student Transportation at Zum. “Our drivers value the special relationships they’ve created on their routes – they’re often the first smiling faces students see each morning. We look forward to another year of safe, reliable rides.”

“Everything is in place – our drivers are well-trained, and our equipment and technology are ready for day one,” said Jennifer Sievers, Spokane General Manager at Zum. “We appreciate all the support we’ve received from the community, and it’s a pleasure to work alongside these families and schools every day.”

In addition to state-of-the-art buses, all drivers deploy Zum’s easy-to-use, all-in-one tech platform that includes route optimization; GPS tracking; an AI camera system for training and student safety, and a driver tablet for navigation and tracking student attendance.

Zum serves 14 states and is rapidly expanding throughout the country, leading a national movement for better student transportation. Through increased safety and technology, Zum improves children’s health and well-being, setting them up for greater success in the classroom.
