San Francisco goes green with Zum electric bus for Earth Day celebration

On Saturday, Zum took part in an Earth Day event in San Francisco, where community members gathered for a “peace walk” and rally to underscore the importance of environmental stewardship.

The April 20 event was organized by Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice and other local organizations. Participants who were unable to walk the entire route rode on a Zum electric school bus.

“Zum is proud to be leading student transportation into a new era of healthier, more sustainable rides for millions of children nationwide,” said Ritu Narayan, Founder and CEO at Zum. “We all have a role to play in creating a better world for younger generations, and we were honored to join the San Francisco community for this Earth Day event.”

“Greenaction and Bayview Hunters Point community members appreciate Zum’s work to provide sustainable transportation for the children of Bayview Hunters Point and commend their partnership in this weekend’s Peoples Earth Day peace walk and environmental justice rally,” stated Bradley Angel, Executive Director, Greenaction for Health and Environmental Justice. “Peoples Earth Day is a celebration of the community’s ongoing struggles for a healthy environment with justice, as we work together to reduce pollution in the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood by cleaning up radioactive and toxic contamination at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard Superfund Site, stopping pollution from dirty industries, and reducing diesel truck emissions.”

Zum is the first and only 100% carbon neutral student transportation company in the U.S., and through its Net Zero Initiative, is leading in electric school bus conversion.
