CEO Headshot and Bio
Ritu Narayan is the founder and CEO of Zum, a technology company transforming school transportation through its Connected Mobility Experience platform. Since founding Zum, Narayan has led the company to serve more than 4,500 schools and districts nationwide, delivering 98% on-time performance and raising over $430 million in total funding from investors including TPG, GIC, Sequoia, and SoftBank.
Narayan built Zum on a simple but urgent belief: that disconnected, unreliable transportation creates a Transportation Anxiety Crisis that follows students into the classroom and ripples through entire communities. Her work to solve this problem has been recognized by organizations across the country, earning her a place on CNBC's list of Women Transforming Business, Goldman Sachs' Exceptional Entrepreneurs, Inc.'s Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs, and Entrepreneur's 100 Women of Influence. Zum itself has been named one of Fast Company's World's Most Innovative Companies three times, a CNBC Disruptor 50 company, and one of Inc. 5000's fastest-growing companies.
Before founding Zum, Narayan led teams at eBay, Oracle, Yahoo, and IBM. She holds an M.S. in Management from Stanford University Graduate School of Business and an undergraduate degree in computer science from the Delhi Institute of Technology.
