Yes, a Virginia commercial driver’s license is required. Zum will pay for on-the-road training and certification if you are not yet a Certified School Bus Driver. Classroom training (40 hours) is not paid.
Our training program has you covered! We will walk you through every step of the certification process and make it easy for you to start your new career at Zum.
Zum handles the communication and logistics with schools so you can focus on safely and efficiently getting students to their destination. We offer modern digital tools such as easy-to use-tablets that are in-stock and ready for use so you’ll quickly and easily know the routes (including changes) and students you are picking up.
Drivers shall be guaranteed a minimum of six (6) hours of work or pay, regardless of whether buses are carrying students. You will work morning and afternoons, 6+ hours a day on average, with opportunities for additional routes, trips and hours for other assignments as they become available.
In the unforeseen event that you work overtime, you will be compensated accordingly.

Drivers will be paid depending on years of driving experience, ranging between $25.50/hour to $32.55/hour.
Yes, your prior commercial driving experience will be honored for the purpose of determining your pay.

Yes, of course you can. Unemployment benefits are paid based on eligibility criteria involving how many hours you’re able to work, not how many places you’re actively employed.
