Fortune Brainstorm AI Singapore Welcomes Zum CEO Ritu Narayan
This week Zūm CEO and Founder Ritu Narayan spoke at Fortune Brainstorm AI Singapore, an inaugural event where hundreds of global leaders, investors, policymakers and academics gathered to discuss artificial intelligence and this pivotal moment for the industry.
Narayan participated in a fireside chat, “Greening the Yellow Bus: How AI is Making the School Run Smarter, Safer, and Greener.” The chat with Matt Heimer, Executive Editor for Features at Fortune, focused on how Zum is using AI and how leaders can successfully integrate AI into their business models. Matt kicked off the conversation by underscoring that school bus systems in the U.S. are infamously unreliable (and have been for decades), noting that his own uncle drives the very same school bus that he rode on as a kid over 50 years ago.
Zum has changed this across the nation, with Narayan sharing how Zum’s proprietary AI tool and technology platform has been critical in connecting schools, drivers, parents and students. Further, Zum’s routing technology has been the key driver in schools optimizing school routes and reducing commute times.
Narayan and Heimer also discussed Zum’s industry-leading, AI-driven vehicle-to-grid (V2G) platform, which sends energy back to the grid; and Zum’s partnerships with school districts across the U.S., including Oakland Unified School District, which will become the first major school district with a 100% electric school bus fleet. In Oakland, Zum’s V2G technology will send 2.1 Gw of electricity back into the grid annually, enough electricity to power 300 homes in Oakland each year.
