Roger Quan has worked in IT for a number of years, most recently in the audio and visual industry. Today, he works for Zum as an IT Analyst.

Question 1:
In your role at Zum, how do you think about innovation?

In my job, in IT, I’m responsible for supporting people with the tools they need to do the best they can in their job. For me, innovation is seeing what new technology is emerging, and then being a part of the implementation of that technology to support Zum’s employees. I measure success from the success of others.

Question 2:
From your perspective, at a company-wide level, how is Zum driving American innovation forward?

If IT is helping connect our employees to the tools they need, I think Zum is doing the same thing, but for the entire transportation industry. Similar to my job in IT, which is about ensuring the right people have the right tools to be successful, I see Zum providing the right technology to allow a sector, in this case school transportation, to grow and be as successful as it should be for both students, parents, and school districts.

Question 3:
When you think of the future, what role do children/the next generation play, and how can we set them up for success?

As with every generation, I think children will play the most prominent role in shaping our future success. For me, the foundation of success is tied directly to education. For example, in my case, the classes I’ve taken over the years, such as Fundamentals of Information Systems, have given me the strong foundation needed to become an IT Analyst at Zum. The more educational opportunities we provide to today’s children, the more successful and innovative they’ll grow up to be.
