Zum Introduces Tool for Improved Bus Stop Management
Zūm has introduced a feature that allows school district transportation teams to manage bus stops — a critical part of running successful school transportation.
Zum’s new “Stops Management” tool allows transportation coordinators to save time while improving service for students and families.
The powerful, easy-to-use interface enables them to:
- View all active bus stops on a single, interactive map where they can manage routes, overlay boundaries and view unassigned students
- Edit stop labels and locations with pinpoint accuracy
- Manage student assignments between stops with distance indicators
- Consolidate stops to create more efficient routes
- Deactivate unused stops to keep systems clean and current
School districts are already seeing results: Virginia Beach City Public Schools and Boston Public Schools have used the feature to consolidate bus stops across their entire transportation networks. Using Stop Management, they identified opportunities to consolidate nearby stops, visualized student walking distances to ensure compliance with district policies and reassigned students to optimal stops based on location and route efficiency
As a result, the districts experienced more efficient routes, improved on-time performance, and the ability to serve more students with their existing fleet.
Transportation coordinators who’ve used multiple routing systems have highlighted several advantages of Zum’s approach, including its intuitive interface, faster editing capabilities for stop locations and student assignments, distance indicators, seamless integration with Zum’s routing tools and clear visualization of all active stops on a single map.
Whether coordinators want to consolidate stops, adjust locations for safety, or keep stop labels up to date for drivers and families, Zum’s Stops Management is critical to maintaining a top-notch transportation network.
Zum’s Stops Management tool is being implemented in its partner districts nationwide.
