Zum Earns Gold-Level Accreditation in CALSTART’s Sustainable Fleets Program

Zum is excited to announce it has earned Gold-level accreditation from the Sustainable Fleets Program and has been recognized for its commitment to being a clean transportation company.

The accreditation certificate comes from CALSTART, an international nonprofit dedicated to achieving 100% zero-emission vehicle adoption by 2040 while helping to build a prosperous, efficient and clean high-tech transportation industry.

“We at Zum are proud to be part of the Sustainable Fleets Program and to be leading an industry-wide shift in transitioning the nation’s 500,000 school buses from diesel to electric,” said Zum CEO Ritu Narayan. “We appreciate CALSTART and all of the districts, families, drivers and communities who share our vision.”

“A modernized, clean transportation industry benefits everyone, and it lays the groundwork for a healthier future,” said Tracy Tilley, CALSTART. “We congratulate Zum on achieving Gold-level accreditation and are eager to follow their progress as they reach net zero and change school transportation for good.”

Gold accreditation levels are granted to organizations that use at least 15% zero-emission vehicles in their fleet operations and incorporate additional sustainability measures such as job training, webinars, community meetings or other knowledge-sharing opportunities.

Transportation is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. As the first and only 100% carbon neutral student transportation company in the U.S., Zum is fully committed to transitioning school bus fleets nationwide to electric vehicles. Through Zum’s Net Zero Initiative, the company has already offset 100% of its fleet’s carbon emissions.

Thank you to all of our partners who support Zum’s commitment to a zero-emission future!
