Second Largest U.S. School District Joins National Movement to Transform Student Transportation
Today, we’re announcing that the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) has awarded a transportation contract valued at over $400 million to Zūm. In a huge step forward for the second largest school district in the country (with more than 650,000 students across 1,000 school campuses), we will play a pivotal role in making LAUSD’s student transportation system cleaner, safer, and more equitable for the students and families of Los Angeles County.
Los Angeles County has some of the nation’s worst traffic congestion and cites transportation as the largest contributor to its greenhouse gas emissions. By modernizing LAUSD’s transportation services and working to transition its bus fleet to electric vehicles – as well as by offsetting 100% of carbon emissions in the meantime – we envision a cleaner and greener Los Angeles with equitable learning opportunities for all.
With this decision, LAUSD demonstrates its commitment to a future where student transportation advances equity, accessibility and environmental stewardship for the Los Angeles community.”
