San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie Visits Zum Bus Yard to Personally Thank Drivers and Staff

Last week Zūm welcomed San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie to its bus yard, where the mayor learned about Zum’s operations and met with drivers, staff and leadership.

“On behalf of a grateful city, I just want to say thank you very much for what you do each and every day,” Lurie said, addressing a room full of Zum drivers. “What you have built is incredible … but it’s not about the technology, it’s about all of you.”

The mayor’s visit on Friday coincided with National School Bus Safety Week (Oct. 20-24). Throughout the week, Zum recognized drivers with special training sessions, events and celebrations at its bus yards nationwide.

“Through digitization and technology, Zum elevates the experience of all stakeholders,” said Ritu Narayan, Founder and CEO at Zum. “We were honored to welcome Mayor Lurie, who was eager to learn about our safety features, technology and commitment to delivering safe, reliable student transportation for all students, families and schools.”

Zum serves more than 150 schools in San Francisco. Since partnering with Zum, San Francisco Unified School District has experienced increased ridership and improved on-time arrivals.

Lurie emphasized what an important role school bus drivers play in the community.

“You all are transporting our most precious asset every single day, you’re doing it safely and people love you,” he said. “Thank you for taking care of our kids.”
