Back to School 2024: Oakland, Calif.
Zūm was excited to kick off the 2024-25 school year in Oakland, Calif., where drivers and staff gathered for a back-to-school celebration.
It’s a historic year for Zum drivers in Oakland Unified School District (OUSD), as they’ll be behind the wheel of the nation’s first 100% electric school bus fleet. Additionally, Zum has deployed groundbreaking vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology in Oakland that enables the buses to return energy to the grid when not in use.
“This is a huge year for student transportation in Oakland – and in our country – and we are proud to have such incredible drivers and staff ready to deliver cleaner, greener rides to and from school,” said Liz Sanchez, Executive Vice President of Student Transportation at Zum. “We’re grateful to our top-notch team and looking forward to a fantastic year.”
“In addition to deploying new buses and technology, we have been working hard to train all drivers and staff and ensure students in Oakland receive safe, reliable and best-in-class service on day one,” said Leslie Jordan, Oakland Operations Supervisor at Zum. “Our team takes pride in the positive role we play in families’ lives. We’re delighted to serve this school community and to be leading the industry in modern, sustainable student transportation.”
Zum manages and operates safe, reliable and equitable student transportation in 14 states nationwide.
